I have been working with Sony Vegas 6.0 over the last month or two and have put together some videos for our church and for my father in laws Memorial. It has gone from hobby to something more.......I have 2-3 projects going and it looks like many more coming up. I have a decent Camcorder but I do know I need a more professional one.......heres my question. Has anybody here ever made a living off of this? Or least brought in some money doing it. I have a Friend who owns a media company who told me he would hire me on as his camera man\Vid Editor if I can show him Im capable.....Hr says I have a great eye ( I get cool shots). I would also have to learn to build websites.........Any information on tutorial sites and or advise would be welcome.

Hey Mike,

I have an Canon XL1, Africa and occasionally the time in the Kruger but weesh it's a tough business. I have some grat footage but have realise that it take professionals 3 ... yes three yrears 24/7 to produce a wildlife doccy. There go my dreams. Camcorders constantly changing and to keep abreast for me was a full time job.

Weddings are the worst. I have never met people who expect so much for so little money. We can only capture what we see, we cant' make the groom Brad Pitt etc. as is the expectation.

If you have the eye for video then go for it. My problem is the desire for perfection, I will keep going without producing a final result as I strive for the "best", needless to say I never get the best so nothing gets completed. Others like my work but for me it's not about money it's about artistic freedom, to produce something you are proud of .... yeah I know that sound very arty farty and weak but it's true.

I use Adobe Premiere by the way.

Cheers
Andrew
