any way to find out year of manufacture?

picked up a mighty mite...model 500, from what i can find out , it was made from 1970 and for a few years. is there a way to find out what year?

Made 1970-1978. That was after Neptune was sold. Not a lot of documentation on those newer models. Some plastic parts, thus not as collectable as the Muncie Mighty Mites.

this motor is stamped a neptune, and as a mighty mite, muncie gear works, muncie indiana. turquoise in color. just not sure of the exact year. (maybe there is no easy way to find out?) no plastic parts evident from the outside???...not even the gas cap.

Why don't you post a pic. Maybe its earlier than 1970. I never saw a late vintage one - my comment about plastic was based on what Hunn said in his book.

Excellent pics. Wish I could do that well....LOL.

Yup, late model for sure. The lower shrouds are the givaway....they are a different shape than the ones on the second generation Muncies.

I looked in my book and no info on these other than to say Muncie was sold and they continued making mightys in to the 1970's.

lol.....maybe i should sell my ob's and buy a fancy camera!! might be able to take "glamour pics" of other peoples motors!
cute little motor tho......kinda like the "puppy" of my small collection.
