i have a 50 hp johnson and its a 1985. it has no trim or tilt you have to life it yourself and i don't really like that. is there any way i can rig somethign together for it to tilt up or is there a bracket or any thing i can use for it and how much would it cost roughly?

go check out cmc trim bracket. roughly $400. got one for my buddys 35hp evinrude. works great and gives the motor about a 4 inch offset from the transom for better planning and higher top speed.

You can get an aftermarket unit like this one, but it's very costly. I don't know if your motor was available with power T&T, but if it was you could try to find a blown motor with it and swap the mount. My 1981 Suzuki DT-50 had power T&T so I know some 50 HP motors have/had it.

Contact Mike at OMCMERC in Page, AZ, 1-866-274-9196, tell him what you want to do. He keeps a LOT of used parts.

SBL, PLEASE stops posting engine questions here. This is for BOAT questions (not engine topics).

Moving this to Outboard non-repair.

Given the forces involved "rigging something up" isn't an option, you will ruin the boat/engine by doing this.

The only real option is the CMC as mentioned, it is designed to take all the stresses involved, you are dealing with hundreds and hundreds of pounds of pressure, A CMC is made from 1/2'' aluminum plate with 3/4'' stainless bolts and a 1'' hydraulic cylinder, super heavy duty.
