I have a new Michigan Wheel 15X17 alum 3 blade prop on my boat and between 850 t0 1100 rpm I get a loud whine.
When I change back to the original 15x17 OMC alum 3 blade prop the whine goes away.
I talked to one of the Michigan Wheel engineers and he said what I am hearing is blade chime which is a resonance of the blades of that particular prop at that rpm range.
Anyone else ever experience this?

I remember a scene in the Film "Das Boot", in which the Chief Engineer mentions a "Singing Noise" at slow RPMs, that originated from a damaged propeller.

Apart from that, such a noise can be sometimes heard inside the marina when Boats with Z-Drives or outboards are passing by.
If your propeller looks okay and there are no strange vibrations at full speed, i think this "whine" is normal.
Check of Gear-Oil for wear may be not a bad thing though...
