Anybody have info on a 1975 Starcraft American S???

Hi everybody. I just picked up a 1975 Starcraft American S 19'. I am pretty certain this is the model since the plate says 'A S 19' for the model and that's the only model that would match the abbreviated name. I've been doing a lot of research on the boat before I rip everything out to restore it but I haven't found any information on this model. I was hoping someone could tell me more about this boat, etc. Thanks for all the help. This forum has been amazing!

First of all, welcome to iboats, great place to hang out and learn about boats.

Check out iboats member Chinewalker's threads about his two Starcraft Americans that he has restored. He's got tons of info on the hulls.

They were actually designed by a marine architect that worked on the Boston Whaler hulls I believe, which gives them a good pedigree.

Folks love them for their smooth ride and nice lines. Great boats for tubing, skiing or cruising.

Thanks for the info. After reading the brochures I found out I have the 19' Stinger O.B. It also has a 1978 Mercury M-800 80 H.P. outboard. Boat looks great when restored:

I was beginning to wonder if they ever actually sold any of these! Never actually seen one in person... Let's see some pics of yours!!

With the 80hp on it, I would suspect she's a little underpowered. Might plane off with a light load, but that boat really oughta have more motor on the back...

Hey Chinewalker, thanks for the post. I enjoyed reading your restoration posts and I'm sure I will have a lot of questions for you when I get started. I definitely agree and would like to get a larger motor on there eventually. I'm starting to think the same thing, I can't find any information on this boat or even photos of another one! I will definitely get some pictures up soon.

That is one cool boat. Put as much motor on it as you can, up to the maximum. I feel the need for speed!

The plate in the boat says Max HP 150HP but the brochure says 190HP, any reason for these differences?

Not sure why the horsepower variance. I'd go by the plate, not the brochure... A V6 150 on that boat would fly!

i can see the expression on the face of the CG folks when you tried to show them the brochure to prove you weren't grossly overpowered.... 150 will be plenty and will likely take that hull to 40+

Hi,
I'm from Romania, so please excuse me for any writing mistakes......
I have a 16 Starcraft American,I bought it from someone who had it from Italy, and I don't have any papers regarding the boat identity.I want to register the boat here in Romania, but the technical inspector wants a paper or a brochure with the technical specifications of the boat.Until now, I didn't find these specifications.Someone on this forum recommended talking to you....do you think you can help me with the specs?
I also bought a 100 hp yamaha 4 stroke engine for it, but as I said, this inspector needs some papers that say what is the maximum power of the engine that the boat can support.
I will sent you attached some photos with my boat to help you make an opinion about it.
