Re: Anybody replaced an infloor fuel tank?

read all the post you can on replacing floors, because that is what you will be doing. get a tank that fits the existing space, don't go cutting out stringers to make room for a bigger tank. you can remove cross bulkheads, inorder to install a longer tank, or to move the tank forward for better load balance. also install an access hatch so you can get to the fittings on the tank, if service is ever needed in the future, and it will be needed. follow the manufacturer directions on spacing around the tank for expandion.

Here's what I did, maybe this well help you. My boat has a large hatch for accessing the tank, so cutting the deck wasn't necessary.

The new tank was primed with a self-etching zinc chromate primer and then coated with 4-5 coats of InterProtect 2000. So even if water got into the tank coffin (which it will not this time) the water will not corrode away the aluminum.

The tank was then foamed in and supported braces were refastened, then the hatch was sealed.
