Looks like a danforth, but it claims to only require 2:1 scope because the flukes open much wider.

Are these effective? My normal use for it would be fishing in a 15ft boat, 25 - 35 foot depth, up to 20mph winds, sandy or muddy bottom. Sure would rather have 70 feet of rode than 245!

Thanks!

So what! How will it dig in with 2:1, Just use a normal anchor with a sentinel (SP) this will allow you to use 2(1):1 rode but get the same holding effect of 8:1. Here is what you do, connect 10 feet of chain from your danforth to a 20-30 pound mushroom anchor, or any heavy object. Connect your anchor rode to the heavy anchor.
wow that's perfect, I already have a 'shroom hanging from the bow in an anchormate - a danforth + 10 feet of chain will be all I'll need.

Won't that make retrieval a little tricky?

Hey sloopy, how'd you get to be "Dock Boy"?

Well what you can do is lower the danforth then get another piece of rope (does not have to be as strong as the anchor line) and tie the line to your mushroom anchor along with a carabiner (preferable a rock climbing type {they lock} but a 3 dollar wally world one will work just as well). Once your danforth is in the water clip the carabiner to the anchor rode and lower your mushroom anchor down as you please. This will also allow you to adjust the system to your liking.

Or if you are very lazy, have the sentinel be x+5 feet away from the main anchor, where x is the depth of the water. That way you will only be raising one anchor up at a time. :D

I prefer just to have the sentinel attached to the end of the chain.

The name thing is a long story, I was the iBoats mascot for a while. (A big trouble maker) :-D :-D You could ask some of the older members about me but be careful as just the mention of my name can cause a quadruple bypass in some of them.
