Anyone Buy a boat Using VPP through Ebay?

I have a killer boat deal set up, but the lady wants to use VPP on ebay. I found the boat on boattrader. She says the boat is at a shipping company in CA ready to go. I just have a few gut feelings that it might not be a legit deal...

I guarantee this is a scam.

100% freaking guarantee it.

Tell them you will pay for a marine inspector to assess the boat before buying. Do not take no for an answer. They will try to give you the "take delivery and if it isn't what you want you can return it for free" line. Tell them you need the inspection for insurance.

That usually stops them replying.

It is a scam, I googled the response email and red flags popped up big time!!!

Here it is:

"Hi,



Currently I'm out of town with my job and I won't be able to meet you, but I left everything prepared for the sale. I want to inform you the boat is already deposited at the shipping company in San Marino, CA ready for shipping. I will ship it for free and you'll have a 5 days for inspection. I already registered the boat into the eBay Vehicle Purchase Protection Program and the deal must go through them. This transaction is covered by eBay's Vehicle Protection Program up to 50,000 USD and if something goes wrong you will be full refunded. You will transfer the money to ebay through wire transfer (bank to bank transfer) and they will hold it until you?ll receive and inspect the boat. The money will be locked into eBay's VPP bank account and they will release the funds to me only with your approval and after the boat is registered under your name. If you want to continue with this deal please e-mail me your info (name, address, phone#) so I can forward it to ebay.

DO NOT give anyone any money without seeing the boat first. There is no boat at the shipping company, and I guarantee they want you to send a money order to some third location, that has nothing to do with where you or the seller are. Tell them the money order's on the way.

I read that line many times, wether its a boat, car, trailer, and even household items. BIG SCAM!! Glad you asked here before you forked over any money! Good luck finding a boat....there are alot out there for sale and some good deals!!
