Anyone else have trouble with Sierra rocker cover gasket?

I just tried to install a Sierra 18-0347 rocker cover gasket on my Mercruiser 140 and the curves around the head bolts are cut too sharp. I currently have it clamped with everything where it should be, but it was a major pain to get everything in place and I'm not sure it's going to stay there. Is there a better supplier for this particular gasket? Can anyone recommend a contact cement-style gasket adhesive that might work to put this in place and hold it there?

Have you tried your local Mercruiser dealer? What year is your 140?

It's a '74. I haven't tried my local dealer. You think I'd have better luck with the factory item?
