Anyone ever filed a boat insurance claim?

Just curious how it's handled by adjusters. I am in the process of selling my boat and concerned about something happening to the boat while giving a test run to prospective buyers. As a precaution I plan on having the prospective buyer give me my deductable cost up front before I take them on a test drive. Do insurance companies balk at paying the insured amount of a policy if they know you are in the process of selling a boat?

if you are paid up and as long as it is in your name it is covered. you are going to be onboard for the test run correct. then you are still the captain.

Well generally you would NEVER just allow someone to take YOUR boat out ALONE

I would always drive the boat MYSELF to and area of clear water and then let them do some reasonable driving to test its performance

It is NOT like you have any idea if there qualified to operate a boat safely

If anything i would be more worried about the sales contract and what is expected on the sea trial to meet that expectation

It is real easy to open up a boat ride business otherwise :D
