Re: Anyone ever heard of this boat brand/mfgr?
OK. Just got home a little bit ago. Took the boat out with the owner. It planed pretty quickly, ran darned well for its age and didn't take on any water.
Granted, it's all original, except for the paint, which apparently was done more than 20 years ago by the original owner.
Current owner is second owner and has had it in his family for 19 years. The boat looks, according to him, exactly as they got it, well, aside from time and wear.
The upholstery/seats are tired, seams starting to come unsewn. Luckily, I've got an old 15' fishing boat I "inherited" from my sister a few years ago that has very little good about it, other than a good pair of seats and a nice running 1975 50hp Evinrude, so the forward/rear facing lounge seats will donate their bases to mount the "new" seats.
The leading edge of the keel/bow has the obligatory scrapes which was "fixed" by the now-previous owner with some sort of putty-type stuff....he had more an idea than skill with the application of the stuff and subsequent painting. Thankfully, it's not very thick at all, so some sanding and proper touchup should take care of that pretty easily.
The fiberglass floor of the boat is very solid, as I mentioned previously. Using a rubber mallet and "tapping" here, there, everywhere on the floor produced no soft spots or anything else untoward I can detect.
The pushbutton shifting made me smile....I owned a 1964 Plymouth Savoy decades ago and it also had a pushbutton automatic. LOL! Wonder what ever made those manufacturers go that route back then.....
So, a few pics just after we got home this evening. Yes, it's old, a little tired, but in surprisingly good shape and for the money, will be a hoot to play with this summer. It's big enough to finally take a couple of our dogs with us without feeling cramped.
(Please don't be too harsh....)
