Anyone ever make a splashwell out of wood?

I have a '59 Starcraft Jet with no splashwell. (I dont think the early ones came with em). Thinking about making one out of wood to compliment other wood on the boat. Any ideas on what to use? Anything to watch out for?

The PO of my project cut the splashwell out with a sawsall. i made a mold out of 2x4's and some white board i had laying around and started fiberglassing a new one. resin won't stick to the white board, i've also used cardboard wrapped with duct tape for light curves and sections that a flat piece just wont work right.
