I ordered an electrical circuit timer, the kind you wire directly into the box to replace the switch. It was "in stock" when I ordered it.

Ordered on Saturday the 8th.
Took them until Thursday the 13th to even acknowledge the order.
Finally shipped on the 14th, but UPS says they didn't get it till the 17th.

Won't get it till the 21st at the earliest. 13 days !!

Ordered a fry pan from JCPenney. Had it in my hands 40 hours later :) :)

My experience with Home Depot is all around they suck, I have them right up there on the list with the county office... send a letter stating you have thirty days to remove or place the un licensed vehicle in a garage, then to find out you can get a ticket for harboring vehicles(after following their request).... I try not to do any business with Home Depot

i ordered a 10'x10' casebo with my team logo on it i ordered it on the 3rd of oct. it says 2 to 3 days shipping, when i called the young fellow said it should read 2 to 3 days to generate the order. He then gave me a tracking # to look up on UPS.com it arrived at my home on the 11th of oct. so i will not do that anymore. Brax

I have placed Special Orders and ordered regular merchandise from their catalog at the service desk in the store and it is UPSed to my house. Stuff came when it was supposed to. Only one item was returned - one of a pair of C02 detectors was opened and missing a wire harness. Brought back to store, a new one was sent to the house.

I guess its like anywhere else, it all depends on who is running the store and the quality of people working there.

i love the depot. two here in annapolis, always the best bet for finding home improvement items. the workers are surprisingly knowledgeable in what they sell and can often find someone in the store to answer questions. no experience in their online store, since i have no need for it.

my only complaint is the switch to numerous self checkout lines and one or two standard lines, but that's the trend these days. i have no problem using the self checkout, but can't stand being behind the morons who can't.

We have both Lowes and Home Depot, both relatively new stores. Home Depot missed the boat building a mid sized store where Lowes opted for a big box. Home depot seems to struggle for help and customers. Lowes parking lot always has 3 times the cars as the Depot. Home Depot = Last ditch effort.

roscoe,
What kind of timer? Is it like a spring wound or push button variety to control a bath fan for example? Or was it an electronic variety used for multiple on-off settings like for a light. Just curious. I sell those at work and am curious what type and what you paid.

Can't help you with the Home Depot question. I've shopped there plenty, but never online.

Another option would be to call an electrical distributor and have them charge your credit card and ship it to you via UPS or Speedee. I would think that would yield much faster results. Be aware, though, some inside sales guys like to gouge home owners!

I bet they got all the creditcard charges right..
You know that is what they are checking.. It takes up to 72hrs to process a creditcard acct. once it on file, then it should be automatic. Once I ordered parts from Shasta Inboards on Tues. they came the next day. Now that was the best service I ever received..
There is so much fraud with creditcards these days that people order stuff and in the sameday they cancel it through the card services.
Hey try explaining that to people who refuse to have an acct on file with an action co. and then they get po'ed, becuase they can't place a bid.. Samething.. Once on file no problem..

I hate Home Depot. Their selection is terrible and prices are ridiculous. There's one about 1 mile from me so I'm there several times a week. I wish Lowes was closer. Just today I had to go 10 miles to Ace Hardware to find a hand full of things Home Depot doesn't sell. Alot of the stuff at Ace is cheaper too. How can a smaller store have a bigger selection and lower prices? I don't know how home depot manages to fill an 8 billion sq ft warehouse with nothing. I even talk to the owner at Ace and he compliments my Jeep. Does home depot even have an owner?
