I'm looking for a good core material to use for the deck of my 19' Renken. I ran across a product called nida-core. It's a honeycomb material compatible with most resins, at least that's what their web site says.
Does anyone here have experience using this material?
My biggest concern is strength once it's glassed into place. How many layers of what type of fiberglass cloth would be necessary to give it the necessary strength?

H have redone my entire interior with plascore which is the same thing just diff name, stringers, seat boxes, etc... You need at least one layer of mat or cloth on each side of it ...once the floor is in place you can put another layer of mat on top of it to make it even stronger...
Personally i like it better than ply ...it will never rot again ..and it doesnt weight as much as ply..litte more expensive tough..
The only bad thing about it is that it does not have screw-holding ability..You have to drill small holes where you need to put screw in, put allen wrench in it and turn it ,knocking out a circle of the plastic hone-comb than using syringe ,fill the holes with catalyzed resin once it hardens it will hold screws

Hope this helps

Dom

I think there was an article in Four Wheeler a few years back that explained how a person built a camper with the stuff. Said it was pretty strong...
