Anyone have a degree in electrical engineering?

If so, I need some help.

This is a wire harness from a Yamaha MR-1 high output engine. And none of my 3 repair manuals show this.

3 plugs with wires:

2 and 3 pin plugs:

10 pin plug:

I'm trying to figure out which wires go to the keyswitch, the stop and kill switches, and the tachometer, and which wires are to the engine sensors.

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks in advance.

I know plenty of very good EEs and none of them could tell you what wires goes where. For that, you need an OEM shop manual

Re: Anyone have a degree in electrical engineering?

Like I said, I have 3 manuals, one from Clymer, and two OEM manuals that I downloaded off the net. One of the PDF manuals covers the jet skis, and the other covers the AR230/SX230 jetboats. And again, none of these manuals show this particular harness.

They have diagrams that show wires coming from the CDI going to the engine, but it fails to show the diagram of this harness, or the color coding of the wiring of this harness. Nor do they have a simple explanation for idiots like me, that simply tells you "this color wire goes to this, and this color wire goes to this"

Basically, what's missing is "wire harness #2" that goes from these couplers, to the dash/instrument panel.

But I already have a wire harness in my boat, I just need to know which wire is which on this harness from the engine, so I can connect the corresponding wires.

You don't have a wiring or electronics problem. You have questions about a Yamaha whatever. Is it an outboard, i/o or jet ski? Are you re-powering with a Yamaha? Post up in the Yammie forums. BTW, A elec. tech here and all I can say is a EE can't help you with this and neither can am ET.

Re: Anyone have a degree in electrical engineering?

It's an MR-1 engine that came out of a Yamaha Jetboat, and I'm installing it into a DuraCraft aluminum boat.

If I could just figure out the color coding of the wires on these plugs, I could easily hook into my existing harness.

But without knowing the color coding of the wires, it's a real PITA.
