anyone have a searay srv 240 with inline 6 motor

i may be getting a 1977 srv 240 that needs omc outdrive replaced and a starter
was thinking of replace motor with a 160 hp inle 6 i have and all drive parts.
would this be bad idea .
i know its lot of work but if i have to replace transom
