Looking to mount my transducer in the bilge area of my Bayliner 175BR and unsure just how far towards the V bottom i should go. instructions with the FF said the said down the hull surface and the transducer and use slow epoxy to affix it, sounds easy enough, but want to get a good location as well. I know I should test out with silicone, but how far from the V bottom should i start? couple inches or a foot+?

I have the same boat (2003). Did you ever mount the transducer in the hull and how is it working? I do not want to mount it on the transom. My depth finder is a Humminbird HDR650.

My boat dealer (Larson) wouldnt sell me a through hull transducer. They said they dont work. The sold me a transom mounted one and said I will be much happier. This was for a depth finder...not a fish finder

Brought the boat out for a run yesterday and the shoot through hull transducer works fine. Even at speeds of 30 mph. So glad i did not mount it on the transom!
