Hi there,
I recently bought an '86 Chris Craft, and in the dash (looks like an aftermarket installation) is a little black box labeled "NewTEC Industries". It has an on/off switch and a little red light. When I turn it on, it beeps rapidly, then "resets" and is quiet. I haven't had time to trace wiring yet, but I think it goes to some sort of sensor mounted to the hull. It sort of looks like a depth finder sensor, but not quite.
Anyways, I'm trying to figure out what it might be and what it does. I've searched using Yahoo, Google, and EBay, but I've only found one listing mentioning a "NewTec gas alarm".
Anyone out there have an idea what this vintage piece of electronics might be? The curiosity is getting to me.
Looking forward to your reply (the boat is covered pending rain tonight, but I can take a couple of pics if someone thinks it will help).
Chris
