I just aquired a boat from my father-in-law. All the boat has on it for markings is "trailorboat - san rafael, calif." The boat is registered as a 1961. Other than these few bits of information, I don't know anything about the boat. The boat is alluminum with wood trim. I already rebuilt the transom, but some of the trim needs replaced. But can't find any info on the boat or even that brand name. I need some help here.

I will try to supply some pics of the boat by the end of today, maybe then someone can help with my search.

Re: Anyone heard of trailorboat?

Here is some additional info on the boat, it isn't much but anything to you help me find more info. The boat is 15 ft. 1.5 inches long and it has what seems to as kinda a odd hull design. It is flat from about the back of the boat up till about the ten foot mark and then it starts to V out. I mean it is completely flat. And I thought I found something good hiden in the boat, it looked like at one point in it's life what I found could have been some sort of an owners manual, but what ever it was had gotten pretty wet over the past 48 years and was unreadable. Now the person I aquired the boat from can't find the title and as far as I can tell there arn't any ID numbers on the boat anywhere.

Ayuh,... It's a cute little boat from a Long gone boat builder.....

It's a Hole in the water, filled with what you Have,....
If something is Broken,... Ya gotta Fix it...
If it's Gone,.. Make another 1...
The lack of Title shouldn't be a problem with such an Old hull in most jurisdictions....

So,... What kinda Help are you needin',..??

Re: Anyone heard of trailorboat?

Well I was just wanting to know more information on the boat. I have done online searches trying to dig up anything, but always come home empty handed. The main thing that I was looking for is the wood trim that joins the sides of the boat to the top parts of the rails. You know they are about the size of a 2x2 and have a groove cut into them so that the aluminum sides and top part slide snugly into it and hold the corners together. I might be able to make my own if I try real hard, it is always easier just to buy reproduction parts, but homemade work just fine for me. I'm not really wanting to restore the boat, I would just like it to be more usable. But if you have any knowledge of this boat builder, I would love to know all I can about the boat.

Thank you for your input

Tom Browning:)

You won't find any parts for that, way too old and obscure.
Just make your own or re-design to something simpler like alum angle bracket rivetted. Looks like an older engine too, you can still find parts for those.

Ya I was thinking that I would have to make my own pieces. I would have never thought angle aluminum, so I guess that is what you guys are for. And yes the motor is older, it is a '61 40hp evinrude big twin. I think it may be the original motor seeing as the boat is a '61 model, but could just be a Coincidence. It needs a little help too.

I'd deal with the paperwork before spending any money. Is that a J3000 sitting next to it?

I'm not too worried about the paperwork, my father-in-law holds the title, he just has no idea were he put 10 years ago when he bought the boat. I used to have the registration, it just got soaked and fell apart. And the truck sitting next to it is a '64 f-250 4x4. Messing with old fords is actually my main hobby, I've got my '64, a '62 2 wheel drive short bed, and a custom '61 unibody 4x4 offroad truck.
