I am tempted to put the boat in the water this weekend and try out the dry suit I had purchased for white water kayaking but never used. The bays are still slushy but the main river is wide open and the local ramps are nice and clean. Anyone polar bear ride yet???

I won't hit the water till Memorial Day weekend here in the States. Even then the water is only 50's.

all my riding over on the west side is in the lakes. I am anticipating a mid may session. Last year is was the end of may before we got out. But, the weather stayed cold a lot longer. If this warm bit keeps up I am hoping the ice will be gone start to mid may. The day the ice is gone is the day we ride!

if you dont have one in your boat yet, a hot water shower is a MUST have for the colder climates.

Load your wet suit up with warm water before you jump in, and you should be up and out before it cools off.

When your done riding, fill the suit back up and warm yourself up.

I haven't been out this year, but have used my dry suit for sking and kayaking.

Make sure to dress very warmly under the suit, as the water sucks all the heat out of you, and you don't have any water to insulate like you do in a wet suit!

I'm itching to get out as soon as possible myself!

Oh yeah, watch out for dead heads and floaters, the water just crested this week on the Ottawa, and may not have flushed all the junk out yet!!

Cheers

I hear ya, I work for the Ottawa Police, this is the time of year where we get alot of calls for floaters, bloaters and any other type of body floating on the rivers, most of the time wearing a ski-doo suit!
