I'm thinking of installing a engine temperature sensor and gauge on my 95 130HP Johnson outboard. Has anyone done this? I like to find a gauge that has a user settable alarm setpoint. I have 3 spare holes in my dash that I could use.

My Mariner doesn't have a hole tapped into the water jacket, so I installed a cylinder head sensor & gauge. Not as good as tapping into the cooling water temperature, but it does react to kelp over the water intake within seconds. Also tracks closely with the cylinder head temp. as measured with one of those HF remote sensing temp. indicators.
