I recently obtained a 1994 Dixie Boatworks 19ft. open bow vessel and was wondering if anyone could give me any background on the company. I have tried to look it up online and have found VERY little. I did run across an old man who states he used to work for them awhile back. He states they made a very good boat but unfortunately the company was destroyed by a fire and all the molds were destroyed along with it. Just a little curious if anyone could familiarize me with the company a little more.

Thanks!

Re: Anyone know anything about Dixie Boatworks?

The USCG Manufacturers Identification Code (MIC) database shows Dixie Boat Works has been acquired several times since 1990 and has produced boats with MIC's of DXE, BKW and MEL. Find the HIN on the transom and try the first three digits in the MIC database and see what you get. FYI, several forum members have posted questions about Dixie boats in the past and you should be able to use the "Search" feature to find their threads. Good luck!

Re: Anyone know anything about Dixie Boatworks?

Hi there, Dixie was a very well known boat manufacturer here in Newton, NC. They closed about 8 or 9 years ago.
They were known as one of the best small boat makers around...I see Dixie boats all over the area. In fact My nephew has one at my place right now waiting on me to replace the impeller.
They made both metal and fibreglass boats.
Hope that helps somewhat.

I have owned a Dixie boat from 1988. I bought it new from the owner of the company and still love it. The owner and founder of the company is Melvin Little. He started building & racing boats in late 1940's and started his company in the early 1950's. I have several of there catalogs from the 60's, 70's, 80's, and 90's. You have one of the last boats built by the company. They were way ahaed of there time and built great boats. Happy Boating, Alan B

Waternut88,
Would you happen to have a catalog for 1978 Dixie 421 o/b?

I have a 1976 Dixie inboard/outboard-18'. It has been owned by our family since bought new and we have had many happy boating experiences with it. Never kept in the water--dry storage--low hours, well-maintained and great condition. We have a 38' trawler now and I am looking for: 1) a replacement control box and 2) a buyer for the boat and trailer. I am in Morehead City, NC
