The hull is similar to a hatteras of that time. In that case they'd be amazing boats. This isn't for me it's for a friend looking for a boat. Sadly I don't think he wants to dive into a boat that big. I'm there with you though, if we didn't have our hands full with our 35'er I'd be sriously looking into it. That boat I think could be worth over 30k if it had a good fiberglass job and some tlc. Good investment.

This is the sentence I was looking for. This Jersey 36 is built on a solid fiberglass hull with moderate beam, a sharp entry, and substantial flare at the bow makes for a comfortable ride. Thats from an '86 on yachtworld. Don't know if it changed from 86 but I was mainly concerned about the hull.

That boat has beautiful classic lines. Jersey is one of those old respected names like Bertram, Trojan, Hatteras, Chris Craft, Rybovich. Those manufacturers had made their reputations with wooden boats, and when making the transition to 'that newfangled fiberglass', tended to overbuild them. Like a tank.

It'd be a great save, and I'll bet it would go for a lot less than $6K, too. Yeah, that A/C unit's gotta go...

Too far for me to go look without wifey knowing I was gone. She can always guess what for and another boat added would see my head subtracted. Can have only 2 at a time now.

Sorry but for that to be a $30,000 boat it would need to be diesel powered (newer diesels) in perfect shape. Not to say its a bad boat, but I can't imagine picking it up thinking you can fix it up and swing $30k out of it.

The 31 at my dock has a huge cockpit for fishing.

I agree with diesels but the boat has potential. The one I found this boat for is now looking at a penn yan. I don't like the boat at all, and tunnel drives seem slow and troublesome. Its supposedly a '76 26'er. You guys have anything about that?

That was a decent boat when built (not meaning to give any opinion on the condition of this one today). -- I see the one question I would have has already been addressed "two new fuel tanks". The big issues with "Jerseys"of that vintage is that they were built with fiberglass fuel tanks. After a couple of years the tanks would start to 'swet' gasoline (rub your hands on the outside of the tanks & you could smell the gas on your hand). Because of this they were hard to get insurance for, and lots of almost new Jerseys were having their tanks replaced.
.......... Sorry, I'm going to have to disagree with this "Jersey is one of those old respected names like Bertram, Trojan, Hatteras, Chris Craft, Rybovich". ... For boats of that period, a world of difference between Rybovich (top of the line), bertram & Hatteras ( a step down from the top, for a production boat), Chris craft (a solid production boat), and Trojan (an entry level boat). A "Jersey" was a good boat, but no Rybivich, Hatteras, or Bertram.

Ned has it right on the namesakes, but keep in mind these boats are very old and still floating around all over the place. As much as a name means bragging rights, any of the older boats get their intended jobs done.
