Anyone know carb specs for holley 2300 2bbl

Specifically the choke setting? My manual references a drill bit size that is supposed to be in the carb specs for a 1998 5.0GL. Every other engine is in there, just not mine for some reason. I want to make sure it is adjusted properly.
Thanks,
Jamie

It's there, on page 2-53 of the Volvo OEM manual. .300 same as the rest.

PS: The model number you have in your signature (502BPBYC) is an OMC number, not Volvo.

Don, I think that's my problem, I only have the OMC book as that is my engine's model number. In my manual it's pages 8-40 through 8-42 and it covers every engine but the 1998 5.0GL in the list. Sometimes I feel like I need both manuals to work on this thing. Is that Volvo manual available on here somewhere? You gave me the link to the OMC manual before (Thank You btw) and it seems to be right for most things. If it's not, is there anyway you could post that page so I can see all the settings? Thank you so much!

I see your problem now, YOUR manual is a Seloc aftermarket manual, not the OEM manual. They always leave out a lot of information. That's how you get one manual to cover so many years.

Basically, the Volvo and OMC manuals were about the same. Areas that give model numbers are different, but the information is the same. Here you can download the OEM Volvo manuals.

Thank you so much Don, you may have saved me from great frustration now and in the future! I have no problems following directions, but when the directions aren't listed (Seloc) it makes it hard to follow!

What's interesting in the manual you just gave me is that the spark plug gap says it should be .060, whereas my OMC (SELOC I assume) manual says .035, the one's installed were at .045. This is the headache with my model year. I haven't had too many problems yet, but man is it a PITA determining which one to use when.

I'll have to find it, but there was a service bulletin on that.

Ok, go back to the link I gave you earlier, and download the manual change service bulletin.
I thought I had all those changes added already.

PS, which manual said .060? I need manual number and page of possible.

Don, the VP 7797451 BY Engine Manual says on page 5-48 about the gap being .060 for the 5.0GL. I will check the addendums you put up. Thanks again!

Another item is the spark plugs, my SELOC manual said AC-MR43LTS, which is what was in the boat when I got it and that's what I replaced them with. The manuals you gave say AC-MR43T. I think the LTS is longer and that's what is currently running in my engine. Am I using the wrong ones, and if so, is this going to damage my pistons?

Have you looked at the threads in the heads yet? That would answer your question.
Both Volvo and OMC list the short plugs as the ones to use.

Re: Anyone know carb specs for holley 2300 2bbl

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but is there an easy way to tell by just looking at the threads in the heads? A good way to measure them or something? Possible to count them? I'll take your word for it though about the shorter one being what is supposed to be used. Scares me a little since I've run the last two years on the longer ones. Thank you again for getting me on the right track. It's wild how far apart the seloc manual I had is from the one you gave me, with the plugs, engine timing and everything.

Look at the threads in the head. Are they the same length as the threads on a long spark plug ?

In looking at the threads in the head, I can count somewhere around 13 threads, the same as the longer spark plugs. I was in autozone the other day and went ahead and bought the shorter ones listed in the manual you gave for the Champion brand (RV15YC4), and they only have about 6 threads on them. Would using the shorter plugs work or cause me problems with combustion? I took a couple pictures, hopefully they turn out. I know this message started out about Carb Specs and we're now talking about spark plugs, not sure if a new post can be created?

Can anyone verify the shorter plugs will work fine and not cause any trouble even though the threads in the head are longer? Should I expect the boat to run differently with shorter plugs?
