anyone know where this tube hooks up too?

mine is missing this tube , and i just noticed that i have the same barb fitting as this . but no tube.

its a pitot tube pickup for a speedo

now im really confused. my pitot tube sits on the transom of boat. (wich needs replacing)

the speedometer can hook up to either.

how does this one on the engine work? i do not see how that can be a pitot hookup? i have pics of the exhaust section. and see where the water and driveshaft go in but for the life of me i dont understand how this would read speed? considering it goes into the casing ......

Fact----This is for the speedometer.-----The hole for water pressure is on front of gearcase !!-----Not ideal for salt water motors.

fact-----this is not a salt water engine.! fact 2 -------the hole i have is on mid section as pointed out. not lower unit (gear Case). that hole is where my extra water is coming from . wich from what i hear is normal for my engine. and i asked how this would work as a pitot tube. wich is not a dumbass question.

There is a hole on the leading edge of the gearcase !----feeds pressure to that hose.----Feeds pressure to speedometer.----Observe / look for it.-----Such a simple thing !!

well i do believe i found the speedo hole .... going to get the tubing and reconnect it instead of the pitot on the transom.
