I have a locking glovebox that i never use, so i was thinking this weekend how it would be neat to have a icebox/cooler there instead. My dads Maxum has one and it gets used alot more than my glovebox does. I searched here and on the net but couldnt find any info for aftermarket ones that i could install. Has anyone ever done this? I have plenty of room to install one if i could find it.

mines about the same, but i have a ton of room behind it so i could make one that had a small opening then went taller/wider behind the door. I have seen them and they have normal sized openings but the cooler is pretty deep/wider when you put your hand inside it. they also have thru-hull drain hoses too, pretty neat.

I put this in tackle box from I think it is SSI they make a bunch of different stuff check them out. On the other side I do not have the room because it has a huge glove box that we do use. But I am going to put a hatch door on it so I will have way more storage under the glove box.

My Sea Ray has a glove box, and a built in cooler below it in the port side dash area. It is awesome for cold drinks. Don't have to take up a bunch of space for a drink cooler that ends up empty bt still takes up all the room. I add the drinks at home and dump in a bag of ice when I get gas. It drains out the side so there is really no hassle to it at all.

There are a few cars that have refrigerators in their glove box. Look them up and start calling junk yards.:)

If that bowrider in the pic is the boat you're speaking of, does it have back-to-back seats? Don't they make coolers to fit under there?

I don't think he has an automotive a/c compressor attached to his motor.;)

However, using the guts from a piezoelectric cooler might work.

I've got a 12v cooler/warmer that my grandmother inlaw - if that is a real title - got me several years ago. It is big enough to hold a six pack an a couple subs and plugs into a cigarette lighter. Probably came from Target or Walmart. We put it front of the console of my f250 on long trips. Works pretty well! With the extended range of the 7.3 diesel I can go about 600 miles without stopping...except the wife has to stop to pee every 50 miles or so.:p

not that i know of. the base is solid, its not a current storage area. I might have to find a scrapped boat and try to pull one out of it and see if i can make it work.
