Re: Anyone make their own Bimini top?
I made a cheapie top. I used electrical conduit for frame tube. The boat had at one time had a canvas cabin and there was hardware for bimini frame. I used the gunwale mounts and cut the frame hardware from the old tubes. I made a new frame with the electrical conduit, I didn't bend the tubing, I used conduit connectors. For the cover, I used a cheap plastic tarp. I did install snaps along the front edge of the tarp, they fit into existing snaps on my windshield frame. The framework is held in place with rope. The tarp lays on the framework, snaps to the windshield and a single bungee cord from each rear corner holds the tarp in place. It worked extremely well at lower speeds and kept the sun off very well.

Improvements I will make. I will sew a sleeve for the frame tubes to slide into. Would like to make the top open over the pilot station so that I can stand to pilot.

Overall cost $20.
