I've been a white water kayaker since 1996. Still stay at class 3 to 4 max. I practice a little freestyle here and there when I can, but mainly a casual at that as well. My wife, kids and I enjoy the lakes from time to time with the kayaks. It's nice and quiet, can get into small places, quietly. Come up on wild life much more frequently in a kayak than when in the 220hp Rinker.

My wife paddles a 14' Perception Carolina with two dry hatches and a rudder. My 13 year old son has a Tsunami XS 12' with two dry hatches. I paddle a 6'2" Pyrhana Rev white water boat, and as my family gets better at paddling, it's becoming more of a challenge for me to keep up with them. Those long boats can track fast! They turn like a freight liner, but they go fast in a straight line. The rudder helps to turn, especially in rough waters, but can also put some drag on the boat and slow it down.
