Anyone own a 1991 or older Thundercraft? How can I find the HP for this OMC Ster

I recently bought a 1991 Thundercraft with a 1991 OMC Cobra.

I have been able to find the basic story behind the demise of the Thundercraft company, but am wondering if there are any places where I can find any more infromation on these boats? ie owner's manual? etc.

I have the original OMC Sterndrive Owner's manual on order and am guessing that this will be more useful than the Thundercraft one if I could find it, but thought I would see if there are any resources that I am not aware of.

Also, I have not been able to find what the HP is for my model (432APRRGD). Can anyone point me to where I can find this?

If it's a Cobra, the first two charecters in the engine serial # will be the engine size in liters. If it's a King Cobra the first three charecters of the engine serial # will be the engine size in cubic inches.

Edit : Sorry I wasn't thinking hp. But with the model # you posted it's definately a 1991 4.3 liter V-6.

That is a 2 bbl carb so those were rated at 175 hp, the 4 bbl were the HO models at 205 hp. I've had 2 Thundercrafts a 1989 290 model (2 x 4.3 4bbl) and still have a 1990 340 model (2 x 460).
You won't find anything in the way of an owner's manual and not likely even a sales brochure because they went under in 91. The most valuable manual you can get is one of the OMC factory original manuals (hope that's what you have on order?)

Thanks for the HP info. That is exactly what I was looking for.

Yes, I ordered the OMC Factory Manual.

One other question. The boat has always been used in fresh water, sitting on a lift. The problem is that the lift didn't come out of the water high enough to bring the motor out of the water. As a result the bottome foot or so of the out drive has a light layer of gunk on it.

Is there a good way to clean this off?

If it's normal lake slime there are several products available Mary Kate, On/Off, I use muriatic acid in the fall to clean my boat/drives off, spray on, leave for a few minutes and wash off. Note: the acid and some of the other products require you to use googles, mask and gloves as it's very unfriendly to living things.
