Anyone Recognize This?

Does anyone recognize the vintage of this particular Evinrude? The guy trying to sell it to me doesn't know the year. He's fairly certain it is a 45 hp. He also THINKS it is a early 70's model.

Also, I notice this particular motor is using a cable system for steering, which I currently do not have. Should I be taking his steering system as well or is there a way to convert this to be used with my current steering system I believe is rack and pinion??

Any thoughts...

At least by the paint and hood, its a 1961 40hp, Evinrude Lark III.

You can use teleflex steering by purchasing an adapter. There are a couple of styles available. One is a transom bracket, available right here at iboats. Another is the Ezy Glide system - seen here ....

Hate to deter you, but the '60 and '61s are thought to be less valuable due to powerhead issues. The problem was rectified in '63

That's the one... thanks guys. The owner says he hasn't taken it out in a few years, so I don't know what potential issues that may raise...
