I bought a used outdrive (alpha one). I am putting a new impeller in it and changing out some seals. I have never seen the copper tube on top of the impeller housing in any drawings. looks like it is supposed to be there. help please.

You say its an older outdrive. How old?

I beleive on my last boat 84 webbcraft I had a plastic tube where your copper tube is so I would say yes it belongs there but they may have changed that out in the past years.

When I removed mine, it had one too.
I never thought about it.

This outdrive is newer than the one currently on my boat (pre-alpha). so I am trying to get this one ready to go on. It is in much better condition than my current drive.

I believe the copper tube normally stays in the upper when you pull the lower off. The plastic tube merely helps line up the bottom to the copper tube when you install it. Pull the copper tube out, put it into the top, then put the two halves together.
