HI GUYS,
I bought a new shop crane. i need to know about adding fluid. the directions say to make for sure to top off oil tank. it says to remove the rubber plug and top off the fluid. my question is i have to raise the boom to get to drain plug. Once i do this do i add fluid until it comes out the fluid hole and then pump the handle to bleed it correct? does it matter if boom is up or down? if boom is all the way down i cant get to plug. any one did this before and can help me out.. thanks

If you add fluid to till it runs out of the hole while the cylinder is extended you will loose some oil when the cylinder is retracted. just don't put the plug back in before you retract and lower it slowly. be prepared for a mess when you do it this way.

If you disconnect the top of the cylinder from the boom and block it up securely, you should be able to do the same thing without the mess.

I would cycle the cycle the cylinder once or twice before you add but if there is oil in the reservoir to extend it even part way, once you top it off you shouldn't need any more bleeding.
