Anyone using low profile boat fenders

I have a fish and ski boat and the cleats are so low that if I attach the fenders so they will protect the boat properly, they are sticking out like wings and 95% of the fender doesn't really ever hit anything. I've found that with some docks the bump strip is up higher so I need some protection at the top. These wrap around low profile bumpers look good but none of the local stores have them for me to look at in person. Anyone using them with a fish and ski and possibly have a picture of them in place? http://www.iboats.com/5-x14-Low-Fre...1458491--**********.104223574--view_id.169046

I'm farily certain WestMarine has those. I'm sure they work fine but they look more conducive for a securing point inboard of the gunwales. I don't how effective they will be tying them to your usual cleats.

I also have the hull huggers tied off inboard.

Stern - through the cleat to the tow eye
mid ship - through the open vent window to the SS windshield support.

OK, I don't know why I hadn't considered tying them off inside somewhere. I was kind of stuck on attaching them to my two cleats. I don't really have anything forward of the windshield inside to attach them to because there is a fishing platform up there. Lots of good suggestions here so I'll experiment with how I come into the dock. I've probably been coming in too heavy on the bow in the past and from reading I'm probably in the "novice" category of docking.

I have those on mine also. Love em, once you get your fenders set to the proper height, no worries! Keeps the cleats free too.

Re: Anyone using low profile boat fenders

On my boat (1991 19' California Cool) I have a very shallow draft and the top deck is what sticks out the farthest. My cleats are only about 2-3" from the edge of the boat. I don't know what I can use. I have tried the Right Angle/Low profile bumpers but because my cleats are so close to the edge, I can't seem to mount them close enough. I always have to hang my bumpers from whatever I am tieing with to prevent my boat from hitting.

Does anyone else out the have a low profile boat with the same problem? Any solutions?

Mount these where you want to put your fenders. You can clip your fenders on and off in a second.

Got these on a couple of my boats and a set of pre-set fenders to go with them. Just slide them in and forget about it. As a nice side benefit, if you mount them on top of the coaming they'll act as kind of a fulcrum and at about 20mph they'll flip the fender right up and into the boat. LOL... I always forget em... and I aint no rookie.
