I am looking to repower my 13' whaler and I found a 2002 Evinrude 50hp motor. I couldnt find much information on it online so I was hoping you guys can help me out. Any feedback on the reliability of this motor? How much does it weigh? I am trying to keep the weight down because well....its a 13' whaler. Let me know thanks!

You really need to get an OEM repair manual. My 2001 states 198lbs. manual tilt / 212lbs. power T/T if I remember right. I will edit this later if not when I get home and find my manual.

I happen to have in my formerly nicotine stained fingers a copy of the 2005 Johnson outboard brochure. Advertised weight of the 50 HP is 202 pounds. It has a 2.42:1 gear set, 12A alternator, 737cc motor, and the recommended wide open throttle RPM is 4500 - 5500 RPM (prop it for 5500). It will typically be fitted with a 12-1/4 x 15P prop (optional).
