approx speed.

buying a 1987 ranger 350v w/ 150 yamaha pro v 150. and planing on fishing tournements with it. i know speed doesnt matter but i like to kno when to take off. either with other 150s or try w/ the 200s. it has a speedometer but i know there sometimes off. any help will be appreciated thanks.

Not familiar with ranger so a 350 means not much to me, I assume it isn't 35' long.

An 18-20 bass boat with a 150 should do @50-60.

Neigbor had a 21' Triton with a 250 that would do 72.

That is assuming the hull isn't rotted and the motor runs correctly, it is 22 years old.

Borow a GPS and check it out, that is the only way you will know for sure.

Never been in a fishing tournament so I'm not sure how they work. I'm guessing they let the highest-powered boats go first?

In that case why not go with the 200's if they'll let you. Worst that will happen is that you'll be the slowest 200. You'll still get to leave ahead of all the other 150's .......

I've never fished a bass tournament in my life but I've fished a lot of saltwater ones, they were all shotgun starts. If the bass tourneys let the 150's go first, go with them so you can get to your spots quick, there's not real way to know your top end with zero info.
