approx weight of 2 old merc's

Hi all

Was wondering what the weight of a 78 700 would be, and also that of a 63 650.

Got me a 60 Glasspar marathon and was given the 63 motor as a back up. The 700 runs like a champ and basically can do mid 40's with no problem. I have to wonder though the weight difference between the two. That 650 is a heavy sucker and was on that boat for almost 40yrs until the previous owner switched it out to the 700..

650 is ballpark 250 lbs, the 700 will be simmilar. They are both 4 cylinders but the 700 is a larger displacement.

The 700 is a three cyl. maybe take 50 off?

something like that probably. I was thinking it was a 4 cyl for some reason
