I have a bayliner explorer with an AQ120B that I have totally rebuilt.
I cleaned ouy the Solex 44 phn3 carb and am able to get the engine to idle well but it slowly dies if I bring the revs above 1500.
Starts right up again without having to give it a shot from the accelerator pump.
I have adjusted the float to the highest possible in an effort to get more fuel in as it sounds like it is starving for gas.
Everything is clean inside.
No blockages that I can tell of.
It gets gas and the bowl is full.
Any ideas why it dies?
If I hammer it down the engine does spool up but only gets up to 3000 pushing the boat to about 14 km/ h.
Seems to surge also.
The revs climb and fall...
My manual does not cover the model of carb.
Does anyone have any idea what is wrong?
Or where to get rebuild instructions especially fo setting the float level?

If what you have is a down draft carburetor did you reinstall the metal plate that with the deflector under the carburetor.

Be sure that the small metering holes near the throttle blade are clear. Usually one of those causes that type of problem.
