I spotted a coolant leak at the water pump and noticed the connection between the water pump and heat exchanger was a rubber hose. The hose was leaking at the water pump. Consulting the manual it shows both the connections are copper nipples with the spacers and sealing rings. So I ordered new nipples, spacers and sealing rings for both the water pump side and the coolant tank side of the heat exchanger. I removed the heat exchanger to replace the parts and found the water pump was not machined to accept the nipple. Thinking someone must have replaced the water pump with an automotive one I ordered a new pump. (all parts purchased right here on Iboats) Well I received the new pump yesterday ( $400.00 poorer) only to find it was not machined either. What's up with that, all the catalogs and manuals show 2 sets of the nipples, spacers, and sealing rings between the heat exchanger and the water pump/ coolant tank! The only reference to the hose is with the new pump. Documentation with the pump also states "The hose provided with pump #3587508 should be installed with the clamps before installation on the engine block". That would be great but they did not include the hose. I was going to use a piece of radiator hose but the boss on the pump is smaller then the boss on the heat exchanger. Anyone know if this is a special hose or what to do. Sure is embarrassing at the launch when you pull the plug and anti freeze runs out on the ramp. Any comments and or solutions would be greatly appreciated.
