Hi

Looking for some help or advice on my inboard engine, it runs well out of water with the suction in a bucket but in the water it will only run at 2600 Revs, Out of the water it willl run to the 5000 its suppose to

Ive recently had the head and valves done, and also had the carbs balanced after new jets and gaskets. Does anybody have any ideas if so let me know please.

Thanks

Welcome Jeff.

Sound like timing/valve adjustment. Whats the rest of the story? Has it ever worked? Did you just get it? Tune up?

Lots of possibilities.

It would run a lot faster 4000 revs plus before i had the Solex twin carbs balanced .On the sea it will only run up to 2600 revs on the drive i remove sea water pipe off the stern drive place in bucket keeping it toped up with water and it will go over 5000 revs:mad should i open the mixture, i thing it might need more fuel under load or am i off course. thanks for the replie.

testing in the bucket is a waste of time. You better start with the carbs and go back over the adjustments. Throttle linkage and cable, float level, etc.

It ran good with the rebuilt heads before the carb work?
