Im considering fabing a forward engine mount for my AQ125B. Just dosen't seem right that the whole engine should cantalever of the transom. Any one ever do this? Or have thoughts about it?

As long as your transom is solid, it's fine. Many of us run around on wet and partially rotten transoms and don't worry too much, but not you Volvo guys. Your idea for the motor mount is not a new one.

Regarding the motor mount, I haven't seen a good example on this website.

I suppose that it has been working since '86, but the lower inside transom plate bolts are compressing the wood, actully cut the glass around the washers. Perhaps ill just make a plate to better distribute the load.

You could possibly fab a "stringer" that is contoured to the oil pan, epoxied to the hull/bilge. Of course, you would want to epoxy some sort of block/base down first to distribute the load of the stringer.

Otherwise, you would be looking at some metalwork to be able to "bolt" the engine down. (or up, in your case )

I noticed when I replaced my impeller 2 years ago the holes under the carpet in the bulkhead didn't quite match up, and had to pry the engine up a little to get proper access. Of course, 27 years will do that to a transom....LOL
