AQ125A mechanical lift seized

I was starting to accelerate the boat when a large clunk came from the stern, I shamefully realized I hadn't lowered the leg and it had dropped and locked into position. The leg, a 270, seems to be fine, however, the screw rod in the mechanical lift was rammed up with so much force that it is jammed in the housing by the flat key, internally, this appears to be the only damage.

How can I free the screw rod from the housing without destroying it?

Not really sure what you mean by the flat key.

It's very likely you bent the vise rod. Remove the assembly and disassemble.

Thanks, a lot of percussion was exactly what it needed.

The screw rod is definitely bent near the bottom, can this be straightened?

Took the rod to a machine shop and for forty dollar they bumped it around a little and have straightened it out. It binds a little bit but I suspect it won't be a problem considering the weight of the leg. Parts are all cleaned off and the lift will be reassembled, refitted and tested tonight - with a little luck it should all work.
