Aq125a with 270 outdrive trim/tilt question

Hello I have an 83 Bayliner Capri with an aq125 and 270 outdrive with electric tilt and I'm wanting to know if I can tilt it at all to trim out the boat. I know that when it's not all the way down the light comes on on the dash to let you know it's not down. Does that mean that it should always be left down while driving? I know that lifted too much, it will put stress on the ujoints which wouldn't be good. Can it be raised at all?

There is also a stopper bolt that can be used to adjust the drives angle, is that the only way to trim it?

Thanks for the help!

That is a tilt out ONLY!!! The trim comes from the 3 holes on the transon(you were right)
If you are in real shallow water and need to tilt up and run it's ok.Just NO power.Try to always run down till the light goes out and the drive locks. You can cause damage that way.
The u-joint can flex some but not all the way.
If it pops up in reverse, that's another thread.(easy fix)J

Re: Aq125a with 270 outdrive trim/tilt question

I live in Florida and some of the intercoastal or sound areas get super shallow so do you think raising it slightly to idle through an area is ok? Or is this type of drive not supposed to be ran at all with it slightly tilted? The other day my drive got stuck in grass in like 2 foot deep water. Wasn't too fun to push it back out into deeper water!

Thanks!

You can tilt the drive up to go thru shallow water at low rpm, as long as the tilt mechanism isn't to week to hold the drive up. To much throttle will push the drive down.
At low rpm, you can raise the drive up as long as you keep the prop in the water, it should be fine.

Great! Thanks Don that makes sense. Thanks for the quick reply!

You are the man! You helped me a while back to do my drive bellows, intermediate bearings and some other things and I couldn't have done it without you guys :)
