I've read many a posts on this topic, but have further questions here. I've included a pic to show what I consider the correct assembly position of both halves of the pump. I've also included the diaphragm in the pic to show its condition. Briefly, replaced old diaphragm with new used one. Cannot see any cracks, and it appears to be fully intact. I've notice some wear marks in the dark inner rim, but no cracks on top or bottom, and it's very pliable. My old diaphragm had very visible cracks, and it was a real gusher.
I tested it briefly the other day after installing new used diaphragm and no leaks. Today I tested for longer period of time, and after a short time, pump was leaking like a sieve out bottom holes. Similar to when it leaked with old, cracked diaphragm. Is there any way to pressure check diaphragm?
Are there other causes for this type of leak? It was gushing again. Tonight I disassembled all parts, cleaned, blew and reassembled. Noticed screen had some grit. Can this grit cause this type of leaking?
Thought I'd pose these few questions before mounting and testing. I want to make sure my positioning is correct for both halves. I also have additional questions related to mechanical replacement pumps (I'm not in favor of electric) that I will post as follow-up. Thank you.
