AQ131a oil leaks/crankcase pressure

I'm going through one of these, just purchased, getting ready for spring.

The engine is a little oily and I read on some Volvo automotive sites that these engines in cars have a tendency towards clogged crankcase ventilation parts, leading to oil leaks.

I can blow into the hose to the flame trap and it has some restriction but I don't know what's normal.

Has this been an issue with these engines? Should I take off the oil separator and soak it. or something else?

No, they are not normally oily. If you have an oil seperator, clean it. Also do a compression test. That should tell you something about the condition of your engine.
