I found papers with numbers and serial number like...volvo penta b230...831918 PN-867949...8451.also serial nr.307493...also AQ171A...867885....2200201297...1277..no idea at all about these numbers.Which one of these numbers are the motor serial number? Thank you

The serial number is found on a plate and in most cases also on a decal on every Volvo Penta engine.

1. engine model 2. product number 3. serial number

have a look at the attached gif it shows the correct plate indications if it does not work try the next link:

The AQ171A is the model number, 2200201297 is the serial number, 290 is the type of outdrive.
Go to this link and you can download the owners manual for your engine. Just type in the AQ number in "Engine Type" . SN doesn't work for anything before 1990.
