AQ231B Impeller

1988 AQ231B impeller for Sierra #18-3081/Volvo #875811 is not wide enough to fill the impeller cavity. Do I need Sierra # 18-3287/ Volvo # 876120?

I would bet that someone replaced the pump. Does it still have a pump with the thick base and long mounting bolts like the one shown below?

Don,
Its hard to get a picture with the fuel tank and the bulkhead but this is what I have. Thank you for any guidance.

Instead of using the aftermarket parts that hope they fit, maybe you should order the OEM impeller kit PN 3862281

I found a listing that has the 3368821 impeller at 31.5mm long? The Volvo site did not indicate the sizes.
It is possible I have a "Frankenmotor"...... The 876120 cross referenced the 8557222 stamped on the pump cover and is 50mm. On the VolvoPenta site it indicates "Fits Most Gas-V8-Older" Any thoughts?
