Hi all,
I am currently overhauling a Jabsco 22303 raw water pump on my 350 chev/Volvo. I have tracked down the bearing and made a new gasket. What I can not seem to find is the brass sleeve/seal that sits in the rear of the forward housing. behind that sits a nylon(?) bush with a seal of its own. These two parts do not appear available form my local suppliers of bearings and seals.
I can not find a reco kit for the pump.
I wonder if somebody could help me understand the function of the brass sleeve and the nylon bush. Can I replace these with double lip seals. There is no end play to set. The housings are held square to each other using the main bearing. How does the brass sleave prevent water ingress?
Thanks in advance.
Sean
