Well, NAPA is closed for the day, so on to another 'project...'

My sister's tri-hull now sports what appears to be a circa 1990 Rude 90HP. There was previously a Chrysler 85 that had 'sat too long' on the boat, and had seized up.

The Chrysler had a tach made by Aqua Meter which is still mounted on the boat. The tach has two wires: grey and white I believe.

When the marina installed the Rude and controls, they did not re-connect the tach.

Would there likely have been a sending unit on that Chrysler (my sister still has it)? Or would the tach likely go to ground and a cylinder?

If a sending unit is required, would anyone know a best source for such a part - I'd rather NOT buy a whole new tach if I can help it and a sending unit is cheap. ;)

Thanks again!
Dan

Chrysler/Force tachs will not work on an OMC outboard. They are set up for 20 pole operation. They are pretty exclusive. The OMC is a 12 pole. You need a Tach that will have a "6" setting on the back for that motor. Most Teleflex Tachs have this and are popular. You may want to check this site out for more info..

web page

This is helpful. Thanks.

If this was hooked up, would it read roughly twice as high? (Since the tach only goes up to 6000, this would still be useless to me - but I'm curious. Or I have a low RPM little Johnson... Just kidding... ;) )
