My welder buddy is sick at the moment other wise I would have him do the draining.
Need a recommendation as to what size hole to drill and where. It appears to be the rear sections only.
There are accessory brackets welded at the bottom rear.Need to drain because of the possibility of frost damage sitting on the trailer.

Two choices James. Low, on the back of the pontoon, which will require a welder to plug it effectively, or high on the rear which can be plugged with a regular plug but you will need a small pump to drain the water.

Drill a small hole, maybe 1/4'', at the very back right beside the keel and pull the plug on top of the tube so it will drain, then take it to your buddy and have him weld the hole shut.

And unless the tube was full of water I don't think there would be any damage, the ice would have plenty of room to expand, damage comes when it runs out of room to grow and starts pushing on things.

Gentlemen. Both of your responses are most appreciated and very reassuring.
Thanks.

I had a welder install a drain plug in the back of each pontoon as you can see in the photo. Every once in a while I'll drain a gallon or two out and feel happy about that.

Thanks for the input BatDaddy. When my welder buddy is fit and well I will have him do that and pressure test the sections.
