There's a shift cable that runs from the outdrive thru the transom that connects to the Teleflex cable that goes to the shifter. Is this a standard VP part? If so what's the part number? My computer crashed and all I have to work with is my phone...supposed to tow the boat to Lake Powell in 2 weeks. Help.

Not sure what you have, but Volvo drives typically use a cable that goes from the control straight to the drive, no other cables.

Thanks Don. You are correct...between the hose shield and bellows I thought there was a coupler in there somewhere, but there isn't. My shift cable is over 25' long. It was hanging up in only one direction - at the extended stop. Undid it from the control and outdrive and pulled it out of the rubber sleeve. It freed up with a minimum of action; will now pump some lube in it. Now to see if i can get it back thru the transom to the outdrive linkage.

Don't waste your time with lube. When they act like that, it's because a groove is worn on the inside of the outer cable, then when you push the cable it binds. Replace the cable, 25' cables are quite common.
